Project Chanology was an attack against the Church of Scientology led at first by Anonymous, which escalated into a series of legal protests perpetrated by college students, moralfags, and activists who were not familiar with anonymous or chan culture. Although many /i/nsurgents maintain that the original DDoS attacks and trolling methods produced considerable lulz, there is a consensus among non-chanologist insurgents that the protests were fail. The primary reason it is considered to have failed is because of the unusual extent of moralfaggotry and srs business
Beginnings
It all started with the youtube controversy involving a video of Tom Cruise being removed by the Co$. Everyone bawwed and got extremely butthurt. Even after youtube brought back the video everyone was pissed, so 711chan decided to DDoS [[Scientology|Scientology.org and a few other Scilon websites.
The raid gets huge
As the raid began receiving shit tons of media attention and the trolls continued to be fed, more websites were brought down. Their call centers were shut down and their flow of information was brought to almost a complete halt. However, Chanologists (at this point still mostly anons) began recruiting an websites which would doom the chans to become corrupted with more newfags than one could ever imagine. Myspace, Facebook, Youtube, people even handed out fliers at local colleges. Why fliers you ask? Because Mark Bunker demanded that anonymous cease its hacking and begin a series of legal, irl protests. This is how chanology finally slipped out of the hands of anon
Shit gets worse
After moving chanologist's to /xenu/ for a few months, Jewlion finally began handing out bans to anyone who mentioned chanology anywhere, and with no chanology board to dump all their shit on, chanology was removed from the *chans. The new center of Chanology related activity became Enturbulation.org. Things were pretty stable, and Enturb was a good home for the moralfags, where they could call themselves anonymous and continue to COMPLETELY FUCKING IGNORE rules 1 & 2, while not actually having anything to do with the original /i/nsurgency. /i/ itself suffered greatly. Tons of newfags had slithered there way into the chans by lurking moar. Shit was getting bad and something had to be done.
Modern Chanology
To stop the moralfags from gaying up good chans, r3x created a chan specifically devoted to chanology and irl raiding. These IRL raiders refer to themselves as Epic Fail Guys. Enturb was deleted by LE, and everything was moved to wwp. Poppins reigned there for a while before being overthrown by da5id. Poppins now controls AnonNewsWire.org.
The protests are finally starting to stop in many cities and shit is really losing steam, to the point where chanology is more or less over except for some light trolling every now and then.
