How to fix shit:

For sysops. If you are not a sysop then don't try this, since it will not work - you need to be able to delete pages.

  • Go to the Special:Contributions/Username page of the dickhead. (You might also want to open up Special:Logs and select the Move logs to make moving pages back a bit easier (clicking revert fills out the new page name automatically).)
  • START FROM THE MOST RECENT EDIT AND WORK DOWNWARDS.
  • Revert the edit - click the "rollback" button.
    • If there is no rollback button, it means someone else has already edited the page. Check "page history" to see what to do. If the first edit of the page is a redirect, it means the real page was moved elsewhere, so DELETE this page.
    • If it says "rollback failed - last contributor was the only editor", then DELETE the page.
      • This may be due to the page having had original content, then being moved, then the new page being overwritten by the vandal. If this is the case, then you will see a series of "move" edits below this edit.
  • If the edit is a move, move the page back. MOVE ARTICLE PAGES BACK FIRST, instead of talk pages first - this is the ONLY TIME you should break the time-ordering of reverting his edits.
    • Why? Well, if you have followed these instructions fully, then anything done to the talk page you should have deleted, and so the wiki will be able to automatically move the talk page back as well, saving you work and time.

Example:

  1. 09:28, 4 March 2008 (hist) (diff) m Project Chanology ([edit summary])
  2. 09:27, 4 March 2008 (hist) (diff) m Talk:Project Chanology (Talk:Project Chanology moved to Talk:Hagger??: [edit summary])
  3. 09:27, 4 March 2008 (hist) (diff) m Project Chanology (Project Chanology moved to Hagger??: [edit summary])
  • Dickhead moves Project Chanology to HAGGER, and the talk page is moved automatically too. (edits 2 and 3)
  • Now "Project Chanology" is a redirect page. Dickhead now proceeds to write over Project Chanology with new content, so that you can't move back HAGGER to Project Chanology. (edit 1)
  • By following the steps above, you will:
    • Delete the new Project Chanology page, so that there is space for the old page to be moved back.
    • Move the HAGGER page back to Project Chanology.
    • The wiki will take care of the talk page, since nothing has been done to it (it's still only a page with a single edit, namely the redirect.)
      • If however, the Dickhead had rewritten over the talk page, then you'll have to delete that too. But that will be visible on his Special:Contributions page, which you should be meticulously going through edit-by-edit.
