Standing back up
It's been a long-ass time since /i/ has done anything. All the major /i/ boards have either been shut down due to TOS issues or DDoSed/hacked into oblivion. Since then, we've had various chances to resurrect /i/, but every single attempt so far has failed.
Now, we've been given one more chance. 711chan, home of one of the major invasion boards from back in the day, has returned. And this time, we're going to take that chance and run with it. We're going to stand back up and get shit done again. But /i/ isn't going to revive itself. Everyone here needs to do something to help get us back on our feet.
The plan[edit]
To resurrect /i/, we'll need to act on multiple fronts:
- We need to spread word about /i/ in order to get more people.
- We need to seek out targets in order to get reaccustomed to raiding.
- We also need to update this wiki. It is SEVERELY out of date.
Getting the word out[edit]
Drawing people to /i/ isn't about just getting them to come here, it's also about giving them a reason to stay. Getting the word out is going to be tough since nearly everyone on the chans is hostile to raiding now. They get good old-fashioned raids and trolling confused with the "We are Anonymous" hacktivism bullshit.
- How should we spread the word?
- Advertising on 4chan is too risky. It'll get you banned, and while it might draw people in, 4chan is full of whiteknights and snitches who find it more fun to ruin a raid than to join in on one. We don't need those kinds of people over here.
- You might be able to advertise on 4chan with less risk if you're really careful. For example, if there was a discussion over how the *chans were back in the day, try bringing up raids and see what responses you get. If you get shit like "WE R LEJIN" or "raids were cancer, >>>/b/", then just quit, but if you get generally positive responses, drop a little mention of 711chan (don't post the URL, just mention the name) in your next post. Hopefully you'll get someone who isn't already here.
- Advertising on other splinter chans might carry a smaller risk of whiteknights, but it'll still get you banned. Also, smaller chans have few users, which means that you won't see many people coming in.
Target practice[edit]
We should focus on finding small, easy targets, ones that can we can take on with the few people we have right now. It'd probably be best if we targeted individual users. Whatever you do, make sure you post screencaps on /i/ to motivate others.
- Look on 4chan for rage/autism threads, there will be a couple new videos and screencaps of people we could fuck with. Most of the shit in those threads is old, though, so do some research whenever you see someone that might be worth the effort.
- Find a random SJW on Tumblr and mess with them. You don't need to try too hard, just send them some logic and facts. That'll be enough to piss them off and cause them to either send you a long-winded reply or whine about harassment/misogyny/transphobia/whatever on their blog.
Updating the wiki[edit]
Most of the pages on this wiki haven't been updated in over five years. The internet has changed a lot since then. The game has changed, the players have changed, and so have the rules. Our old tools and techniques are useless now, so we need to come up with ones that work.
- Start with the main page and remove links to everything that's no longer relevant. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Tools that are no longer effective.
- Enemies that the chans haven't had anything to do with in years.
- Tutorials that are so out-of-date, it'd be easier just to rewrite them from scratch.
- Incomplete projects that will probably never be worked on again.
- Once the main page is cleaned up, start working your way down. Go to a page, fix it, then repeat for another page.
- Remove or fix broken external links.
- If you see information that you believe is out of date, either update said information or put the following template at the top of the page: {{Outdated}}
Getting a wiki account[edit]
Before you can do anything on the wiki, you'll need to get an account. Despite what the front page says, open registration is not going on right now, but parley has offered to set up accounts if you get on IRC. Just do the following:
- Get on irc.711chan.org #711chan
- See if parley is online. If he's not in the channel's user list, /msg him; if the server says "user not found", then he's not on right now.
- If he's not online, you'll just have to stay on IRC and wait. Go ahead and learn how to use IRC if you don't already know how.
- If he's still not online after a while, email him at parley@314chan.org
